AHA Instructor Classes
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION (AHA)
These classes are to prepare you to become an instructor in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers/Heartsaver, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses.
ACLS and PALS instructor candidates must be at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified in a healthcare occupation where such skills are within the provided scope of practice. BLS/Heartsaver instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age.
The ideal instructor candidate must be motivated to teach, facilitate learning, and ensure students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion.
An AHA instructor should continuously view student assessment as a way to improve individual knowledge and skills.
By the end of the instructor course, you will be able to teach a BLS/Heartsaver, ACLS, or PALS course using the video and lesson maps that are part of the course instructor materials. You will also be able to use the most current testing materials to conduct skills testing.
