Mercy College of Health Sciences has announced the appointment of Amanda Zurface, JCL, as its inaugural vice president for mission and campus culture. With more than two decades of service and leadership within the Catholic Church, Zurface brings a rich blend of theological expertise, spiritual formation, and organizational leadership to the College’s executive team.
Her career spans diocesan and parish leadership, nonprofit formation, and communications, all focused on caring for the whole person with an emphasis on spiritual direction and supporting individuals with matters of canon law. She has served as vice-chancellor of the Diocese of Pueblo, diocesan postulator for the cause of Sister Annella Zervas, OSB, and as the outreach and content specialist for Covenant Eyes. She is also the founder of Joy Seeker, a Catholic nonprofit focused on restorative care and human flourishing.
“Amanda brings a remarkable blend of strategic leadership, strong Catholic formation, and a servant’s heart,” said Dr. Adreain Henry, OD, EdD, MBA, president of Mercy College of Health Sciences. “Her appointment affirms our commitment to mission integration and advances our vision of building a transformative campus culture rooted in the healing ministry of the Sisters of Mercy.”
Zurface holds a Licentiate and Master’s degree in Canon Law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa and a dual Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Social Justice from Ohio Dominican University. She is also a certified spiritual director through Divine Mercy University and is recognized nationally for her expertise in the theology of the body, Catholic social teaching, and related areas of faith and culture.
“I am deeply honored to join the Mercy College community and support its mission to form compassionate healthcare leaders,” said Zurface. “I look forward to walking alongside students, faculty, and staff as we build a campus environment rooted in dignity, justice, and the rich Catholic heritage of the Sisters of Mercy.”
In her new role, Zurface will provide leadership for campus ministry, mission integration, and student affairs, advancing initiatives that foster belonging and holistic well-being. She will also play a key role in shaping an institutional culture that reflects the College’s Core Values and Catholic heritage.
