DES MOINES, Iowa, October 6, 2020 — Mercy College of Health Sciences has appointed Bud Marr, PhD, to the position of Academic Dean and Kristy Irwin, MS, Director of Assessment and Accreditation, to the newly created position of Associate Dean of Academics.
In the September 18 announcement, Provost Nancy Kertz, PhD, praised both Marr and Irwin stating, “They are excellent matches for these positions and they will be strong assets to the College.”
Dr. Marr earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Saint Louis University and most recently served as the Director of The National Institute for Newman Studies. In 2014, Marr was the Director of Campus Ministry at Mercy College and taught as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy.
The Academic Dean position will be responsible for providing leadership for academic planning and enhancing programs and curriculum. Dr. Marr will also oversee faculty recruitment, development and evaluation, budgeting, and allocation of resources.
Irwin earned two Master of Science degrees from Emporia State University in Educational Administration, Supervision; and Evaluation and Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Curriculum Leadership.
As the Associate Dean of Academics, Irwin will be responsible in providing academic oversight for academic programs and will continue to have oversight for Mercy College’s assessment and accreditation activities.
