Nearly three years after the passing of his wife, Anne Miller, Mark Miller (current Mercy College Board Vice Chair) continues to honor her legacy by investing in the next generation of nurses at Mercy College of Health Sciences.

Anne, a Mercy-trained nurse, believed deeply in compassionate, service-driven healthcare. In her memory, Mark and his family established the Anne Miller Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund, created with guidance from Anne’s nursing classmates, sister, and daughter-in-law to reflect the values she embodied throughout her career.

Thanks to strong community support, the Anne Miller Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund has received gifts from X donors totaling more than $108,000, making it one of the most successful scholarship efforts in Mercy College history. To date, 10 nursing students have already received scholarships, helping them stay focused on completing their education and entering the healthcare workforce.

“This scholarship not only eases the financial burden of nursing school, but also motivates me to keep working toward my goal of becoming a registered nurse. Your generosity inspires me to give back and make a difference in the lives of patients and families,” Luke C., a 2026 Bachelor of Science in Nursing Candidate shared.

The nursing shortage continues to impact Iowa and communities across the country. Mercy College of Health Sciences plays a critical role in preparing skilled, compassionate nurses who are ready to serve. Scholarships like Anne’s remove financial barriers and help ensure students can complete their degrees and enter the profession prepared to lead with excellence and empathy.

Mark remains committed to growing the scholarship so it can support even more students. To encourage broader community participation, the Miller family is offering a matching gift challenge, contributing 50 cents for every dollar donated, up to $5,000.
