Meet Dr. Douglas Fiore

Douglas J. Fiore, PhD, was appointed by the Mercy College Board of Directors as the College’s third president. Dr. Fiore officially began his term on June 10, 2018.

Fiore earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in educational administration from Indiana State University, Master of Science in Education from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Speech Arts and Sciences from Hofstra University. Throughout his career he held leadership roles at several higher education institutions and in the public K-12 school system. Most recently, he served as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Park University.

Fiore is recognized for his consulting work in areas relating to developing culture, collaborations, partnerships and faculty recruitment and retention. He has authored or co-authored eight books for school administrators and frequently contributes to numerous publications and conferences, both nationally and internationally. He serves on several professional boards and committees including the American Educational Research Association, the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In 2012 Fiore was a Fellow with the American Council on Education.

President Douglas J. Fiore, PhD, was formally installed as the third President of Mercy College of Health Sciences on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Downtown Des Moines, Iowa.
