In 2005, she completed the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management, a nationally recognized leadership program for senior-level administrators in higher education. 

Since 2013, Dr. Gallisath has served as a primary mentor to colleges and universities in the Persistence and Completion Academy and the Student Success Academy of the Higher Learning Commission. She spent the first 15 years of her career in Sioux City where she served in academic leadership positions at Morningside College and Western Iowa Tech Community College.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Iowa and begin this new role at Mercy College. My 34 years in higher education have been very rewarding. I can't imagine doing anything else professionally, and I’m eager to dive in and get started,” stated Dr. Gallisath.

The Academic Dean is a new position created to ensure Mercy College continues to meet the academic and workforce needs within Des Moines and the region. Dr. Gallisath is the first to serve in this role.
