Rachel Reimer, MS, PhD
Assistant Professor, MPH Program, Des Moines University
Dr. Reimer currently serves as an assistant professor of public health at Des Moines University. She received her bachelor’s in psychology at the University of Iowa. She went on to Iowa State University where she received her Master’s in Science, and PhD in Social Psychology. Her area of research has focused on the social, cultural, and environmental factors that influence health attitudes, cognitions, and behavior. Her work can be categorized into three primary areas. 1) Adolescent Health risk behaviors, 2) social and behavioral factors associated with disparities in HPV vaccine uptake and 3) theory based childhood obesity intervention/prevention research. Her research has been published in prestigious journals such as Child Development, Pediatrics, BioMed Central, and JAMA - Pediatrics. In addition to her research interests, Dr. Reimer is an established instructor, having received the MPH student choine faculty of the year award 3 times in 4 years, serving as the chair of the MPH curriculum committee, and serving as Chair of the DMU Research and Grants committee which is responsible for all internal grant reviews. Beginning on July 1, Dr. Reimer will assume the position of Associate Professor, and Director/Chair of the MPH program.
