*To ensure the safety of all clients served by Mercy College students, a Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and a Department of Human Services (DHS) child and adult abuse check will be conducted on each student enrolled in the College. Students will be asked to sign forms granting permission to conduct these checks. Students who choose not to sign will be unable to participate in the clinical requirements. Students who have a DCI record may be denied admission to Mercy College. Students who have a child or adult abuse registry listing will not be permitted to enroll at Mercy College and will be so notified in writing by the Dean of Enrollment and Student Services.

When the College is notified that a student has a DCI record, the student will be informed in writing and advised to contact the Dean of Enrollment and Student Services to discuss the record for further evaluation of their application. All DCI and Abuse Registry information is maintained in the Dean’s office and is not part of a student’s permanent record.
