Library Policies

The library's goal is to support the students, faculty and staff of Mercy College by providing access to relevant, accurate information resources in a variety of formats within an appropriate environment. To assure equitable access and to support this environment, the following policies have been established.

Quiet Environment

The Mercy College Library strives to create an environment that is quiet and conducive for research and study. Examples of noisy behavior include, but are not limited to, loud talking, using cell phones and using audio-visual equipment without headphones. If a patron reports a noise or disturbance to a staff member, the staff member will ask the person(s) involved to be quiet or move to a study room. If a staff member receives a second complaint, the person(s) making the noise will be asked to leave the library.

Cell Phones

Patrons should turn all cell phones to silent before entering the library. All calls should be placed and answered outside the library.
