Mercy College’ McCleish Plus Three other Alumni on the list of 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2009
(Des Moines) – Mercy College of Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr. Joan McCleish, Dean of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Distance Education at the College, has been selected as a member of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses Program. The program recognizes outstanding nurses "whose exceptional contributions to patients, colleagues, and the profession are truly remarkable."
According to Mercy College President Barbara Q. Decker, “This distinguished honor for Joan certainly exemplifies the many ways she contributes her talents and expertise within the nursing profession and in her ongoing endeavors in research, distance online education, and assessment at the College.”
McCleish, a 1980 graduate of the diploma nursing program. She is joined in this group of great nurses by three other College nursing alumni: Mary Williams Hill, Diploma Class of 1977, employed by Fairfield Community Schools; Cheryl Lillegraven, BSN Class of 2002, employed by Iowa Health Des Moines; and Janet Naset-Payne, Diploma Class of 1992, employed by Pella Regional Health Center.
This year, 475 nominations were received for this recognition program.
The nominations are first evaluated by 21 reviewers around the state
(all prior recipients). Final selection is determined by
representatives of the Iowa Hospital Association, Iowa Nurses
Association, Iowa Nurses Foundation and the University of Iowa College
