President Decker meets with members of Congress
Earlier this month, Mercy College of Health Sciences' president Barbara Decker traveled to Washington DC to participate in discussions with members of Congress about critical issues in higher education. As a member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), Dr. Decker joined a delegation of higher education administrators from Iowa concerned with maintaining high standards of quality without excessively burdening students with debt. Conversations were had with Senators Tom Harkin and Charles Grassley as well as Representatives Tom Latham, Steve King, Bruce Braley, and Dave Loebsack.
Upon her return, Dr. Decker remarked, "Of the significant changes occurring today in higher education, Mercy College remains committed to preparing graduates for service and leadership in our healthcare communities, instilling our ministry and values, and ensuring a quality and affordable educational experience."
