Catherine McAuleyMercy Week Celebration Marked by Liturgy with Bishop Pates

The annual celebration marking the anniversary of the establishment of the Sisters of Mercy as a religious community in 1831 will be celebrated September 19-22, 2011 on the College campus.

Bishop Richard Pates, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Des Moines, will celebrate liturgy in the Brennan Hall Chapel at Noon on Monday, September 19.  Bishop Pates will then share lunch with a few students interested in campus ministry and administrators, immediately after mass.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20 and 21, President Decker will host her annual, free Presidential Student Luncheons in the Brennan Hall Commons.  Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  All students are welcome to attend both days, if their schedule accommodates.  In addition to lunch, prize drawings will be held throughout the event, so be sure to pick up a raffle ticket.  This year you do not need to be present to receive a prize (to free up more seats throughout the events).

Then on Thursday, September 22, Fr. Joel McNeil, Diocesan Director of Campus Ministry will lead a Blessing of Hands Ceremony at Noon in the Brennan Hall Chapel, followed by serving a Comfortable Cup of Tea outside the Chapel in the Lobby of Brennan Hall (an Irish tradition of the Sisters of Mercy).  All are welcome to this event.
