Mercy College reported fall 2009 semester enrollment of 778 full- and part-time degree-seeking students which represents an increase of 14% over fall 2008 semester.
This increase is on the heels of the successful response to two Health Care Career Seminars held in the spring that ultimately led to 13 students enrolling in the summer semester. Twelve of these 13 students are currently enrolled in the Fall 2009 semester as well.
According to Mercy College officials, 52% of the students are enrolled in the Division of Nursing while the Division of Allied Health programs account for 26% of students and the Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences include the remaining 22% of pre-professional and pre-med students.
Mercy College offers Bachelor and Associate of Science degrees as well as certificates in diagnostic medical sonography, emergency medical services, health care administration, medical assisting, nursing, polysomnographic technology, clinical laboratory science, health science (pre-med), allied health, radiologic technology and surgical technology. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, demand for these professionals will continue to intensify over the next two decades.
