To be a national leader for excellence in the delivery and innovation of health sciences education.

Our Mission

Mercy College of Health Sciences prepares graduates for service and leadership in the healthcare community by integrating its core values with a professional and liberal arts and sciences education.

Our Values

Mercy College of Health Sciences is a Catholic institution of higher education, rooted in the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy, guided by our core values of knowledge, reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence.

Our Core Values

  • Knowledge – The ability to instill in our college community a thirst to continually study, observe, and investigate the world for facts and ideas that can improve the health and well-being of humankind, as well as create a love for learning.
  • Reverence – Profound spirit of awe and respect for all creation, shaping relationships to self, to one another, and to God, as well as acknowledging that we hold in trust all that has been given to us.

Goals and Objectives

To fulfill its mission, Mercy College of Health Sciences is committed to achieving the following goals and objectives:

  1. Develop an intellectually stimulating and caring environment that will facilitate student academic achievement and clinical competence by the following means:

    1. Engaging professional role models for liberal arts and sciences and selected health care disciplines.

    2. Offering student services that facilitate success in the College.

    3. Providing learning resources to enhance the student’s academic and professional development.

    4. Fostering caring relationships within the College community.

  2. Establish a liberal arts and science foundation that facilitates personal development by enhancing the student’s ability to:

    1. Utilize critical thinking.

    2. Communicate effectively in writing and speech.

    3. Demonstrate knowledge and application in the life sciences.

    4. Understand characteristics of people from an individual, cultural and social perspective.

    5. Articulate a moral or philosophical foundation as a basis for personal and professional life.

    6. Utilize technology to support the learning process.

  3. Prepare students for positions in their chosen profession by providing opportunities for students to:

    1. Demonstrate competencies in knowledge, skills and attitudes for their chosen profession.

    2. Develop caring, ethical and professional behaviors.

    3. Participate in diverse educational experiences in the health care system.

    4. Interact with professional role models in selected health care settings.

    5. Display leadership ability through participation in health-care-related and service-oriented activities.
