With a full-time staff of Ph.D.-prepared faculty, the LAS division is fortunate to have experienced professionals teaching. In our effort to expand course offerings, Mercy College utilizes surrounding institutions for experienced adjunct faculty who are experts in their fields. For example, extra sections of health science courses are taught by full-time faculty from Des Moines University.

Mercy College LAS courses are challenging and yet contain the content that will be needed for the next semester as well as future professional program courses. All LAS courses are transferable to other higher education institutions.

As Knut Oyangen, Ph.D. from Iowa State University, wrote after teaching the course, “Special Topics in History”, “I really enjoyed teaching at Mercy College and was impressed with the effort the students put into it.  It’s great that a college dedicated to educating health care professionals takes the humanities so seriously."
