Frank Harkin Memorial Scholarship

Funded by the General Scholarship Fund, this scholarship is awarded in memory of Frank Harkin (1922-2000), a long-time friend of Mercy Medical Center, who throughout his life taught the health care workers who served him what it meant to live life to its fullest while overcoming physical disabilities. Candidates for this renewable award will need to demonstrate a personal history of involvement with disabled persons and have a desire to provide further service to this community. Recipients will also be evaluated on the basis of personal financial need.

Latinos Unidos Scholarships

Funded by the General Scholarship Fund, these scholarships are awarded in conjunction with Latinos Unidos, a local Hispanic social service and referral agency serving central Iowa. One of its goals is to enhance health care services and related educational opportunities.

You will need to begin the process for applying for this scholarship by contacting Latinos Unidos directly at the number and emails listed on the form.

SIKH, Inc Health Science Scholarship

Funded by members of the local SIKH religious community, whose members routinely guest lecture in THE 334 Religions of the World course to help guide students through the tenets of this world religion and the implications for health care providers in treating local community members. The scholarship has been created to assist Mercy College students who are either planning to enroll in liberal arts and science courses only or are intending to seek admission to the Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree program. Of secondary consideration is a demonstration of financial need. Students entering with a high school transcript must demonstrate a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, while students transferring would need to demonstrate a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for college credits accepted by the College.

This scholarship is not available.

Robert Edward Williams Family Educational Scholarship

Funded by the family of Robert Edward Williams, this scholarship is awarded to new and returning students in any degree program who have a disability as defined by Americans With Disabilities Act and meet the minimum 2.25 GPA. In the event of multiple candidates, the scholarship will be awarded based upon Mercy Medical Center employment and a demonstrated financial need.

These scholarships for first-time students do not require the submission of an application form. Decisions are internally made as part of the admissions process. You will be notified by email if you receive an award.

Freshman Academic Scholars Award

These awards are available to first-year, full-time students based on academic performance while in high school. Award funds are limited, so recipients will receive consideration on a first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available. Submission of the admission deposit will be the date used for establishing priority for funding.

Transfer Student Academic Scholars Award

These awards are available to first-year, full-time transfer students based on academic performance. Award funds are limited, so recipients will receive consideration on a first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available. Submission of the admission deposit will be the date used for establishing priority for funding.

Connie French Endowed Scholarship

Funded solely by a charitable gift of Mercy Medical Center at the retirement of Connie French, a long-time employee of Mercy Medical Center and former College Board member, these awards are available to students who qualify as first-time or transfer college students who meet the existing standards for the Mercy College Freshman Academic Scholarship or the Transfer Student Academic Scholarship programs.
