Decatur County Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

Qualifications:

  1. Second year or further into a health-care educational program.
  2. Resident of Decatur County (disregarding location of school).
     

Deadline for submission of completed application: June 30
Recipient will be notified by July 30.

Must then provide information necessary for $1000 check to be made out to and mailed to appropriate educational institution for the following term.

Provide name, address, phone number, e-mail information; describe course of study; educational institution name, address and phone; indicate any existing or prior scholarships received; transcript w/GPA from first year course of study. Elaborate upon career goals and past and present community involvement.

Attach or have sent separately 3 letters of recommendation from the following:

  • Current professor/instructor
  • Community person
  • Non-related peer

IHERF scholarship

Iowa Hospital Association Scholarship

The Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), an IHA subsidiary, offers scholarships of up to $6,000 ($3,000 per year for a max of two years) to qualified candidates. Award recipients must be willing to work in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship awarded. Visit the Iowa Hospital Scholarship site to confirm eligibility and apply. Iowa Heart Foundation

Women's Opportunity Award Scholarship

Sponsored by the local area chapter in Des Moines of the Soroptimist Internationl organization, this scholarship is awarded to a woman seeking to improve her employment status by gaining educational skills.

The basic criteria for eligibility are:

  1. Female head of the household, with primary financial responsibility supporting their family (including children, a spouse and/or parents);
  2. Attending, or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program;
  3. Demonstration of financial need


Previous recipients are ineligible to apply.

Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship

The Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship, sponsored by B4 Brands, is awarded each year to five, non-traditional, fulltime students pursuing undergraduate degrees in nursing. All scholarship winners receive a non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 payable directly to the institution in which they are enrolled. The 2013 application is due August 31st.
