IHERF scholarship

Iowa Hospital Association Scholarship

The Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), an IHA subsidiary, offers scholarships of up to $6,000 ($3,000 per year for a max of two years) to qualified candidates. Award recipients must be willing to work in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship awarded. Visit the Iowa Hospital Scholarship site to confirm eligibility and apply. Women's Opportunity Award Scholarship

Sponsored by the local area chapter in Des Moines of the Soroptimist Internationl organization, this scholarship is awarded to a woman seeking to improve her employment status by gaining educational skills.

The basic criteria for eligibility are:

  1. Female head of the household, with primary financial responsibility supporting their family (including children, a spouse and/or parents);
  2. Attending, or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program;
  3. Demonstration of financial need

Previous recipients are ineligible to apply.

Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship

The Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship, sponsored by B4 Brands, is awarded each year to five, non-traditional, fulltime students pursuing undergraduate degrees in nursing. All scholarship winners receive a non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 payable directly to the institution in which they are enrolled.
