Blackboard™ Course Management Software

Mercy College uses Blackboard™ course management software for all courses, whether face-to-face, web-assisted or web-based. Blackboard™ can be thought of as an interactive course website with each course using Blackboard™ to varying degrees. All courses use Blackboard™ for posting course documents such as syllabus, faculty contact information and course grades.

Student Blackboard™ Access 

Students can access the Blackboard™ log-in screen by doing one of the following:

• Visiting the Mercy College home page and clicking Blackboard™ LOG-IN on the right

• Going directly to the Blackboard™ log-in at http://mercycollege.blackboard.com/

Blackboard™ User Name and Password

By the time you arrive on campus, your user name will be ready for you. Enter your first initial, last name and last two digits of your social security number (for example: asmith85).

Your password is Mchs and the last four digits of your social security number. The password is case sensitive, so remember to capitalize the M (for example: Mchs8577).

Student Computer Configuration

To avoid technical issues with Blackboard™, we recommended that student computers use:

• Microsoft – Windows 98 or higher
• Macintosh – OS 8 or higher

Internet Browsers

• Internet Explorer – Version 5 or higher
• Firefox – Version 1.0 or higher
• Netscape – Version 8.0 or higher
• Safari – Version 2.0 or higher

Java

• Latest version available free from Sun Microsystems at http://www.java.com/  (Simply click on the Free JAVA download button and follow the on-screen instructions.)
