Personal History
I am a Iowa Native, graduated from Roosevelt High School. My passion for the medical field began in high school. My intent was to be a general surgeon. Life altered those plans. I aways knew about surgical technologist, but unfortunely not everyone else did in the college setting. I finally found what I was looking for at Mercy College , I started the Surgical Technologist program in 2002 and ended in 2003. The good thing was it was only a year program and I still could be involved in the surgical field and be close to a surgeon.I applied for a job at Mercy Medical Center and got the job! I worked for Mercy Capitol as well as Mercy North. During my clinical experience, I did some precepting of Surgical Technology students and enjoyed it alot. Of course, teaching was another passion of mine. So I put both passions together and this is where I am today. I will always be greatful to the staff and Mercy Medical Center and my instructors at Mercy College, they enhanced the passion for the field and for Surgical Technology despite the many obstacles that life threw at me. Now my ultimate goal is to put out as well as knowledgeable Surgical Technologist with as much passion for the field as I have for my profession.
