Program Chairs of the Division of Allied Health made a formal request in fall 2006, on behalf of their alumni and current students, to determine the possibility of merging the Allied Health Alumni Association with the Nursing Alumni Association. Because of the limited graduate pool and diverse make-up of the potential members of the allied health academic programs, these educational leaders felt that establishing a unified and active alumni association will continue to be difficult to accomplish.
The Nursing Alumni Association Board sought input from all nursing alumni through a printed survey included with the winter 2007 VitalSigns magazine to determine nursing graduate interest in a merger.
Approximately 50 surveys were returned, with an 85% negative response to the idea of a merger. As a result, the Nursing Alumni Association in fall 2007 decided to table a decision to further consider options to assist alumni of allied health programs.

Those interested in getting more involved in one of the four existing sub-committees of the Nursing Alumni Association (special events, education, nominating & bylaws, membership) are invited to review the recent minutes from the association board meetings. To become involved in a sub-committee, you are encouraged to contact Brian Tingleff, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Admissions (515) 643-6663.
