Advancing a Collaborative Learning Community

Definition of Pillar:  Creating a teaching and learning environment focusing on holistic healthcare education.

Foster a learning community that embodies the spirit of lifelong learning, intellectual engagement, spiritual development, and collaborative scholarship.

Objectives:

Cultivate an organizational culture that
embraces and communicates a commitment
to building capacity for lifelong learning,
continuous quality improvement, and self-reflection.

Enhance services that are tied to essential needs of students with an intentional focus
on the improvement of student retention,
engagement, and persistence across all
degree programs.

Develop an effective “Teaching and Learning Center” that provides virtual and face-to-face professional development, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for students,
faculty, staff, and healthcare practitioners.

Enhance use of simulation technology
designed to promote patient safety
through innovative approaches to clinical
instruction using simulation.
