College Hill

(formerly Mercy Court)

June 2017

Newly remodeled apartments located just steps away from Mercy College’s main campus (928 6th Avenue) were completed and made available for students to rent in June.  The apartments are owned and managed by College Hill Associates, L.P and are located on floors 2-5 of 921 6th Avenue. College Hill Associates offers numerous floor plans with both furnished and unfurnished options. College Hill Associates continues its work and additional apartments will become available in December 2017.

In addition, Phase 1 of the Mercy College campus renovation will be complete in August 2017.  This first phase will result in new office and meeting rooms for the Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and Student Success employees. The Josephine Norkaitis Student Success Center will also be completed and provide dedicated space for student testing and tutoring.

Phase 2 of the campus renovation will be complete in December 2017 and will provide faculty offices, as well as additional classroom, lab and simulation space to augment space currently available on the main campus. Once construction is complete, the College will occupy a brand new, 20,000 square foot, 2-story building plus 20,000 square feet of completely remodeled space on the garden level and first floor of 921 6th Avenue.

In response to the growing demand for health care professionals, renovation and design of the newest additions to the Mercy College campus are underway.

Mercy Medical Center -  Des Moines has entered into a non-binding Memo of Understanding with Newbury Living to redevelop a building formerly known as Mercy Court, for future use by Mercy College students for apartments.  In addition, Newbury Living is creating a 20,000 square foot building on the site for College offices and classrooms with the architectural help of Simonson & Associates. Newbury is working to have student apartments available by fall 2017.
